Who We Are
We are people who love textiles. We travel far and wide to look for textiles that have a story to tell. We go directly to the maker and learn their story. We want to know everything we can about each piece we collect so that we can share it with you.
Textiles bring together elements of culture, geography, the natural environment, and the character of the maker. These are the things that make it unique. Their hands have touched it with skill and love. We connect with the makers and support their efforts with fair prices to help sustain their craft, and we try to connect you with the makers. Knowing something about who made it, where it was made, and what materials were used to make it, is a way to follow the thread of life’s story.
The Language of Cloth is a language that everyone speaks in one way or another. We all keep warm with it, cover ourselves with it, decorate our homes with it, and use it to commemorate our entrance and departure from this earth. It’s a language that connects us all. The weavers, the batik makers, the stitchers, the embroiderers, the dyers, and the quilt makers, are the ones who tell our story, leave their mark on cloth, in one way or another, and hold out the hand of their work to be touched and treasured.
